ethiopia eerste dag

We zijn hier vrijdag 5/10 aangekomen, rond half negen ’s avonds. Ik had een infectie met koorts (neus, keel bronchiën) die al op Schiphol begonnen was. Bleef dus in het hotel en Marianne ging op stap
 

As you see, most of the text is in Dutch. It is easier fro me and for most readers. But to make it understandable for our English-speaking friends I will add a few notes.
First of all we want to thank our Ethiopian friends who were our guides:
Jeroen was our contact person in Holland and he made all arrangements with his counterpart in Ethiopia. Then it was Shiferaw who organized the trip and who was our guide in Bahar Dar and from there towards Gondar, the Simien Mountains up to Axum; we enjoyed his company very much. Thank you Shiferaw!
Our first days in Addis we had Keb, who showed us around and who knew all the good places. He was understanding and very well informed. In Lalibela Eyob took care of us. he had an astonishing knowledge of the history of the Ethiopian Church and the marvelous rock-hewn churches dating from the 12th century onwards.
Back in Addis we found Seyoum on our side. He was enormously helpful and brought us by car safely to Harrar and back. his wife Emmuye saved our day and our visit to the sugar factory of Metahara by bringing our suit case all the way from Addis to Awash. To show our gratitude we invited her to join us on the trip to Harrar. So we enjoyed her company as well the days in Harrar.
